WinMUN VII Philanthropy

With our JCC committee this year centered around prohibition, the issue that drove this government policy is even more apparent today. One of the driving forces behind prohibition’s enactment was women advocating that excessive alcoholism drove domestic abuse. WinMUN is dedicated to educating our delegates on the link between domestic violence and alcoholism, which is why WinMUN VII is proud to be supporting Casa Myrna.

Casa Myrna is Boston’s largest provider of services to domestic abuse survivors. The non-profit offers domestic and dating violence awareness in both English and Spanish. Services include housing assistance and advocacy, financial literacy education and job readiness skill building, individual and group counseling, legal advocacy and representation, children’s services, and community-based advocacy.

Last year, on the day of WinMUN, delegates raised $460 for the Elton John AIDS Foundation, and this year, we are determined to beat that goal with a fundraising goal of $500. On the day of WinMUN, many incentives will encourage delegates to donate. Stay tuned for specifics! All donations made on the day of the conference will be sent to Casa Myrna.
